SXSW Interactive and Barcamp Austin III

Next week, I’m skipping the normal Spring Break type plans like sitting on a beach sipping a few mixed drinks or hiking in the Grand Canyon, for a more useful and quite energetic tech and music festival.  SXSW is going to be my place of choice from Thursday March 6th until the following Wednesday.  Its going to be fairly soon after I get back from my San Francisco trip, so March is turning out to be a jam packed month full of techie goodness.

I still haven’t bought my ticket yet, but even if I don’t make it into the actual session, I’m planning on meeting up at quite a few of the social events running in correlation with SXSW.

Of those social events, Barcamp Austin III seems to be one that is catching some steam.  The venue has been announced and will be held at ‘idea city’ which looks like its going to be a very cool place to host a Barcamp.  Tons of props should be given out to Whurley and the other organizers for trying to top Barcamp Texas which was hosted by The Creative Space and held in Bryan a few weeks back.  It was a very successful turnout and the other members and myself were very excited to have such great response to the event.

It seems that we had a couple great ideas that Whurley and the rest of the Barcamp Austin crew want to have at their event, one of which was the photo booth that I had set up for everyone to remember the day.  After  talking with Whurley the other day, it seems that its going to happen as they have set aside an area specifically for the photo booth.

The rest of my week is pretty much unplanned and will be looking to meet with new people and take lots of pictures which you will be able to find on my flickr stream

*UPDATE* SXSW is amazing. If you’ve never been, you’re missing out.
